Feedback Time

Today I need your help!  As I shared earlier this week I went to Go Blog Social and it was a great experience.  When I originally started this blog a little over a year ago I started it for myself.  I was in a rut and was sick of not feeling like I knew how to dress anymore, therefore not trying to look my best each day.  Since then I think I've become a lot of confident all around and I feel like I have a lot of ideas on what to wear and how to steer clear of another clothing rut.

Now, I really enjoy blogging because I love the idea of helping others to feel confident about themselves the way some other bloggers did for me when I started out.  I want to bring the best content I can each day and that's where you come in!  Below is a quick survey, only eight questions long, I'd love to have you answer so I can get some feedback on how to move forward to make my blog the best it can be.  Use the scroll bar on the right as needed and simply click "done" to submit once you're finished. I seriously appreciate it!

(The survey is now closed, thanks to those who participated!)

You Should Know:

Today I'm going to share with you some of the bloggers I met at Go Blog Social that I think you should know:

Kilee of ONE little MOMMA:  I love her style that she has a family like I do and makes her blog "her thing" in the midst of the craziness of life.  I also love the voice she has in her writing and it's so authentic when you meet her face to face.

Maya of Charmingly Styled: She is from Chicago (which is like the coolest city to me) and wears Anthropologie like I wish I could.  Plus she's super down to earth and is creating some pretty great content on her blog.

Laura at Simply Paperie.  She works with my sister and the three of us hung out the whole weekend.  On top of being super sweet she is an AMAZING graphic designer.  She also recently made my sister the coolest business cards that double as a recipe card.  Seriously cool.

Lindsay at the Live-in Kitchen. I'm definitely not a cook and rely heavily on my sister and my husband for recipes but Lindsay has some great recipes that are all the healthy side.  Nice.

Jessica at How Sweet It Is, she's also an amazing food blogger and has such an amazing voice in her writing and she's super fun in person too!

I met so many other great bloggers too and it was such a fun event and much needed break from the busyness of life!

Go Blog Social

This last weekend I not only got to visit my awesome sister Chelsea I also got to attend Go Blog Social. The organizers brought some amazing speakers, and I feel like I walked away with some great tips and I met some amazing people too.  It was awesome to connect with other bloggers whose blogs I love and I was super flattered to connect with bloggers who read my blog or followed me on Instagram.  I walked away with so many new connections and so many great blogs to read too!

One of the speakers was Nicole from Cedar and Rush, I wasn't familiar with her before the event but got some many tips from her about putting myself out there. I also think I might have actually learned how to tweet, watch out world, here I come!

I was also excited to meet Lauren of La Petite Fashionista.  She spoke on branding herself, which she's done an amazing job of, by the way.  She also was just as sweet in person as I thought she would be. She has done so much and I definitely plan to work to utilize her tips to make my blog the best it can be!

I knew Alissa of The Adored Life wasn't planning to come because she's super busy finishing her last semester of college, but was excited to see her at one of the night events.  Let me tell you, if I had my act together at 22 the way this girl does I'd be running Vogue by now.  This girl has got big things ahead of her!

Tomorrow I'm going to share with you some of the blogs and bloggers I met, because, girls, there are some great blogs out there you definitely shouldn't miss out on!

I'm Blushing

I'm Blushing

Today I'm at the first day of the Go Blog Social Conference!  You can follow me along on Instagram.  I thought it would be fun to show some pretty blush pieces for spring.  It seems like pastels are everywhere, and I love the texture and details in these pieces above!  I feel like solids could be very hard for a pale person like myself to wear, but the texture and pattern makes these pieces special!  So, what do you think of pastels this spring?  Are you on board with this trend or planning to pass?

Double Dot and Pretty Jewels

Today I thought it would be fun to try some double dots with my teal blazer.  I'm also sporting another necklace from Edith Marie Jewelry.  Have you entered my giveaway to win any piece from Edith Marie yet?

I'm also wearing some fun bracelets today too. I've been following Paige on Instagram for awhile and she has great style.  She also has a cute Etsy stop where she sells these super cute initial bangles and tassel bracelets.  I decided to order a tassel bracelet and she was sweet enough to send me an initial bracelet as well.  They are so cute!  I'd definitely recommend getting a bracelet or two for yourself. : )

New Jewels

Recently I discovered Edith Marie Jewelry on Instagram and I fell in love with all the bold statement pieces and great prices.  Amber, the owner is all about looking great without spending a lot of money, just like myself.  I ended up ordering the Diana (currently on super sale!) and the Kim .

When the pieces arrived I was impressed with the quality for such a great price.  I was recently disappointed with with another online shop, so this pieces were the perfect surprise!  I reached out to thank Amber for the great pieces and she offered to let me host a giveaway for any piece from her shop!  So, ladies, today is your lucky day. : )  Enter using the Rafflecopter below.

Also, let's talk about this jacket, I got it last week from Loft.  I've had my eye on it all season and initially loved a similar one from Gap I saw on Lisa but missed in stores.  When Loft came up with their own version I was excited!  I'm pretty sure I'm going to wear it like crazy!

How to Wear: Blazers

A few weeks ago I asked what you all would like to see for my how-to posts and I got some great ideas.  One idea was tips for how to wear blazers.  I love blazers, and my favorite it probably this navy one from Loft.  I think they can be the perfect layering piece to add to almost any outfit.  Below are six ways I like to wear them:
  • I love to add a blazer to a dress.  Like I did here.  My tip for making this work is to pay attention to the materials your pairing up.  Pair a cotton blazer with a cotton/jersey dress and a poly-blend blazer with a dress with similar material too.  Wool blazers are great too and these can be good with a thicker cotton dress or other matte material dresses.
  • I also love to pair a blazer with a pencil skirt, really any pencil skirt can work. I've done this a lot, one example is here.  I think blazers can also be cute with mini-skirts, but I'd stick clear of wearing them with longer a-line skirts as the shape could be awkward.
  • Last summer I wore blazers with shorts to dress up a lot quite a bit, like I did here.  I also like to add a heel or wedge to help finish off the look too.
  • The forth way I like to wear them is with a simple sweater or shirt and jeans like I did here.  I've also added a button-down underneath the sweater for a more polished preppy look too.
  • Fifth is with a blouse for a girl's night look.  I actually wore this outfit this weekend for dinner with friends. Then we went and did a little shopping and ended the night with ice cream. It was the trifecta of awesomeness.
  • Lastly, I like to wear blazers with scarves to dress up an otherwise casual look like I did here
Honestly, the possibilities for styling blazers is pretty limitless and I love their timeless style.  How about you, how do you like to wear blazers?

Chartreuse and White

I have been on the hunt for the perfect white blazer for nearly a year and finally found what I was looking for recently at JC Penney. I'll tell you what they have seriously upped their game and I've been really pleased with all the things I've found there this year.  That night I pinned a bunch of outfits with white blazers. I love the look of them with jeans and decided to try it with my pretty much forgotten chartreuse shirt I got for a steal last spring at Loft.  I really love how this came together.

March Budget

March Budget

I'm linking up with Fran for Budgeting Bloggers.  This month I added a number of things to my closet.  I only spent like $12 in January and $56 in February; I think I was just not interested in buying more winter clothes.  Now as it's starting to warm up I had a number of things on my wishlist I was on the look out for this month.  Here's what I bought:

J. Crew Factory flip flops: $12- My favorite flip flops are from here and have lasted me like seven years, well, they were so thin on the bottom it hurt to walk in them when I pulled them out this Spring.  Luckily I found these as a replacement for a fair price.
Utility Jacket: $12  I actually got the solid green version no longer available online.  It's no secret my utility vest is one of my favorite things, so when I found out there was a jacket version I was excited and I got it for a steal!
Leopard flats: $8 I've also been on the hunt for a pair of these and I can't believe how inexpensive and cozy these are!
Sperry's: $23 I stumbled across these while trying to sell some clothes at Plato's Closet.  Mine are like these, minus the pink.  The are so stinking comfortable and I'm so glad to add these to my wardrobe.
Crystal Cluster necklace: $28  This necklace is my favorite thing right now. Love. It. It goes with everything!
White Blazer: $27 I have been on the hunt for the perfect one for over a year and I love this version I found at JCP.
Mossimo Ankle Pant: $20 My black jeans are officially gray so I really needed a replacement and love these ones from Target.  I was able to use a Cartwheel coupon and get these for a great price too!
Diana Necklace $15 (not shown above) This and the necklace below are two of my new favorite pieces, stay tuned for a blog debut next week!
Kim Necklace $13 (not shown above) Love this one!

Total: $158

This is more than I usually spend in a month, honestly.  However I came out way ahead this month.  In between selling clothes at Plato's and on my Insta-closet and income from blogging I have a nice amount to spend in Kansas City when I go there for the Go Blog Social next weekend.  Really, I'll probably just hoard most of it away until I really find something else I really need to have.

I also thought I'd show you some of my favorite  Instagram outfits from this month too. Most of my new pieces are shown below too. For March I still needed a lot of layers!  I'm hoping that changes in April.

Sponsor Spotlight and Link up

Today I'm excited to have Susan from  Charming Lucy guest posting.  You'll also have a change to enter her awesome giveaway and join her fun link up too!  Take it away, Susan!

I am Susan from the Charming Lucy blog.  Today's outfit inspiration comes from none other than Ginny of My New Favorite Outfit, and my Ohio friend Heather of H&K Style Journey. Heather is another fabulous fashion blogger you should get to know! I am loving colored pants for spring this year. Ginny and Heather provide us with these fabulous ways to style red pants. Striped blazer with red pants I purchased this striped blazer at Maurices last year and have never worn it! I am not sure why, but I popped it on with my red Loft pants and fell in love! I am a cardigan girl, but will certainly be adding more blazers to my wardrobe soon. I prefer the stretchy type material, so it fits and feels more like a soft sweater. The leopard shoes add a bit of a contrast to the outfit. I may add a belt when I wear this outfit again. Any suggestions on what color belt would look best?
