Anniversary Style

This past weekend my hubby and I celebrated our five year anniversary. We went to a nice restaurant and to see a movie. It was a great time, and crazy to think that five years have passed by! I found this dress a few weeks ago at Target. It was an online return with the original price being $50. I got it for $12. I was super excited, and new it would be great for our date night.

High Five for Friday!

Another fun month of blogging has passed and I'm still having so much fun with it! I think I've pushed myself to try some outfit combos I would have doubted before, and I'm really enjoying seeing what my blogger friends have to say and wear each day too. One things for sure though, I should really work on some different poses......not quite sure how to tackle that. Regardless, still loving each fun day here in the blogging world!

Also, I've decided to do a 30x30 for January. Super excited for this! Stay tuned for January 1st to see the pieces of clothing I picked, and the details of this fun clothing challenge!

Black, Gray, and a New Purse!

My husband's and my fifth anniversary is coming up soon, so for my gift I picked out a new Coach purse. I'd really been wanting an all black purse with a classic feel, and love this one.  I also love that it has multiple sections for different things, ie. one section for my wallet, keys, phone, another for my planner, another for my Ipad, and a last one for all the other things I feel the need to lug around.  I hate trying to dig in the bottom of my purse, and love the sections because of this.

To offset my expensive purse, and just to remind you all how I also like a deal, I'm wearing my newest thrift store find, this cute gray Ann Taylor skirt, which I snagged for $3!

Also, I haven't been doing a very good job of promoting my Facebook page, if interested, I have button on the right-hand side, you can like me there :)

3. This last weekend my son and I went to this event called "Christmas on the Prairie" that my parents help out at.  It's at the museum in my hometown and it's set up like a historical village with an old time school house, a blacksmith shop, etc. with activities for kids at each stop.  Grant had a blast!

4. My students' read The Lightning Thief and we just watched the movie.  The consensus: the book is WAY better.  Score one the the English teacher!

5. Realizing that instead of buying a snood, I can just make one myself.  I know how to knit, duh, Ginny.  Stay tuned for the finished project!

I'm very excited that Jayne Wilson nominated me for this award! Check out her blog:

So Much Fashion, So Little Space when you get a chance!

Here's How it Works: The Liebster award is given by bloggers to up and coming bloggers who have less than 200 followers.

What is a Liebster?

The meaning: Liebster is German and means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome.

1. Each person much post 11 things about themselves
2. Answer the questions the nominator made for you and also create 11 more questions for the blogs you nominate
3. Choose 11 people and link them to your post
4. Go to their page and tell them.
5. No tag backs!

11things!

1. I teach middle school language arts.
2. I've been married for almost five years.
3. I have a two year old son.
4. I definitely have champagne taste on a beer budget.
5. I love shoes, but hate to spend money on them.
6. I enjoy scrap booking.
7. My husband makes me laugh each day.
8. I am finally at a point in my life where my confidence is my own and not based upon what others think about me.
9. If given the chance, I'd spend my early 20s very differently.
10. I'm very thankful for my mom.
11. If I could solely survive on a diet of coffee and ice cream, I would :)

11 questions for me!

1) What is your biggest dream?
I love being a teacher, but I'd love the opportunity to get to be a stay-at-home mom, then get to work at boutique just for fun once the kids were in school.

2) Where would you go on your dream vacation?
I love Maui, and had the best time there getting married and enjoying our honeymoon.  I'd go back there to vacation in a heart beat.

3) What is the most important thing to you?
I'd have to say my faith and my family.

4) Chocolate, Vanilla, or Strawberry?
Ice cream: vanilla Candy: chocolate any day

5) What's your favorite accessory?
I love necklaces, so fun.

6) If you could go back in time what time period would you go to?
I'd go back to the 1960s.  It was such an influential time period for our country; I'd like to go back and be a part of it.

7) What's your favorite time of the year?
I love summer, specifically because I get to wear sundresses and flip flops every day.

8) What's your favorite movie?
Napoleon Dynamite.  So funny, and cracks me up every time.

9) What's your biggest fear?
I'd have to say losing my family, I can't imagine going though that.

10) Would you change anything in your life right now?
I would love to have a bigger clothes budget....hey, a girl can dream. ;)

11) Can you speak more than one language?
No, I can't.  I really wish I could though.  I have a large population of Hispanic students, and I think it is such an asset to be bi-lingual.  It would also be great to be able to communicate more easily with the parents.

My Questions:

1.  What's your perfect Saturday look like?
2.  What's your job, and do you love it?
3.  If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

5.  What's your favorite and least favorite trend?
6.  What's your favorite book?
7.  What's your dream vacation?

Weekend Wear

My sister came into town last weekend and we had a number of errands to run, so I threw this on.  Weekend dress can be hard for me. I want to be comfortable, but I don't want to look like a slob.  I remember when I was 20, and was totally content to go out on a Saturday morning with my hair in a poneytail, while wearing baggy sweat pants; those days are long gone for me.  Anyway, the outfit: I just got this scarf for a steal and really like it.  I believe it has a skull on it, which is totally NOT me, but I love the color combo and think it's a fun addition to my wardrobe.  How about you? Any great tips to share about weekend dress?

Satin, Lace, and a Giveaway!

I ran across this skirt at a trendy new and used clothing store called The Giving Tree. You walk in and it looks and feels like an expensive boutique, but has thrift store prices on trendy used clothes. I love going there, and am always so happy with my finds. They buy clothes on site, so it's easy to bring in clothes to sell, and pick up new ones in the process. Totally up my alley. And the necklace. I am in love with this. I recently found it and thought it was such a great statement piece. I decided it was worthy of my fist giveaway. Look down below for details.

Oh, I love a good deal

Fashion is something that I've always loved, affordable or not so affordable, if I've loved it I've bought it.  After getting married my husband and I created a budget (gasp) and although my interest in fashion didn't change, my budget did. Since then I'm always trying to get as much bang for my buck as possible. Through this blog I hope to show that you can wear cute, stand-out fashion on a budget.
