30x30 Day 29: "Dressed" Up and a Button Swap

Day 29:

Earlier this month a lovely blogger asked me if I wanted to swap buttons to post on each other's blogs. I thought that was a great idea, except I didn't have a button. Well, my sister came to my rescue again and made me one. I thought it would be fun to do a free button swap for February, so if you're interested, grab mine and leave a comment, and I'll stop by your blog and do the same. Nothing better than sharing the blog love :)

Now, onto my outfit: I honestly can't believe how versatile this dress is? It works perfectly as a shirt today. Silly me had this put away with my summer clothes until I began searching for my 30x30 items. This challenge has really made me rethink what I truly have in my closet and how I chose to wear it. I feel like I need to get up on a soap box and teach about the power of restyling, but honestly that just sounds like too much work today.

Also, I was nominated for the Leibster award again by Vita at PixieVita, stop by her blog and say hi :).

30x30 Day 28: Blazin' Trails

Day 28

Two more days and the challenge will be done. Sweeeeet! But for today I will put on my favorite blazer for the umpteenth time this month. I'm honestly surprised at how many outfits I can put a navy blazer with! I really like it with this bright shirt and necklace, and it's just dressed up enough to be a great work look.

This is what I intended to wear today and my intended post above but I got a call at 5:45 that we have a snow day! So exciting and unexpected! I will not be wearing this today. I will be wearing sweatpants. Happily.

30x30 Day 27: Snakeskin, Neon, and My New Favorite Skirt

Day 27:

So, I feel like I've really been looking at my clothes differently, which I love, this leads me to my hair. I don't spend a lot of time on it, other than to flat iron it, that is, and I'm getting bored. I've been looking for new options for styling and got the bright idea to put in my curling mouse and diffuse it. I used to do it curly all the time but stopped because I now shower at night. So, I got up early, washed it, and starting diffusing away. Once done, the look was well, similar to what you would expect if you put your finger in a light socket. No amount of styling did any good. Luckily, I was able to flat iron it back to normal. Anyone have a great curling product they use? My hair has natural wave, any suggestions would be great.

Now, onto my outfit, which luckily turned out. I'm telling you, this skirt, is......perfect! I really think I'd wear it every day if I could. I've also decided that I'd like to wear black tights every day too. Why is this the first year since I was five years old that I loved them?

30x30 Day 26: Classically Simple, a Guest Post and Say What?

Day 26:

So, I did it. I joined Pinterest. I know I'm only like three years behind the rest of the world, but better late than never, right. I've now reached the social media trifecta: Facebook, Blogging, and Pinterest. My husband shudders as I say this. :) Anyway,  I've been having fun with it, and have set up a board with looks I love, some of my outfits, and a 30x30 board. If you're interested, my button's on the sidebar and you can follow me there.  Also, evidently my RSS feed button wasn't working, whoops, now it's fixed to thanks to my lovely, tech-savvy sister

Also in exciting news , Today I'm guest posting for the sweet Ada at Elegance Personified .  I'll be talking about my 30x30 and showing off some of my favorites so far.  Stop by her blog and say hi!

Now to my  outfit: I'm really into this look, it's pretty simplistic, but I think that's what I like about it. I never would have thought about it a month ago. I think sometimes I make an outfit more complicated than it needs to be, but not today. This is definitely an outfit I'll be wearing again!

30x30 Day 25: Dressed Like a Clown By a Toddler

25:

As I've mentioned before, I have a son who's 2 1/2.  He is great, funny, sweet and very particular when it comes to his clothes.  No, he doesn't get that from me, silly, he gets it from his father.  I swear.  Anyway, he dresses himself daily. Sometimes his outfits really make sense, and sometimes it resembles today's look.  I (secretly) like this outfit, but I just think it's a little much all together.  I fully intend on finding a navy blue sweater to pair this with in the future, but with the 30x30, this is what you get.  Enjoy (because I kind of am).

Sweater: Old Navy $20
Chambray: Old Navy $20

30x30 Day 24: Polka Dots and Stripes

Day 24:

Let's see, carry the 1 and yep, not loving this polka dot blouse. Don't get me wrong, this outfit is just fine and I love the other pieces.  I added this top into my 30X30 to force me to wear it, and I just really don't want to.  Unfortunately (for me), I think it's going to be added to my pile to donate.  Maybe some lucky soul will find it at the thrift store and find the perfect way to wear it, as I can't seem to.  Bummer.  Anyone have any clothes like this in their closet, cute but you just can't seem to love wearing it?

30x30 Day 23: Girls' Night!

Day 23:

Happy Friday!  Tonight is Girl's Night.  So. Excited.  A number of my girl friends and I try to make a habit of getting together once a month at someone's house for some kid free time.  With the holidays we haven't gotten together as a group for a couple of months.  We're doing a gift exchange and fondue night with both cheese and chocolate fondue.  I might be in heavan.  This outfit will be nice as it is comfortable, but a little dressier than a typical casual look.  I really love this lace top and I'm so got I waited in line for 50% off at Express on Black Friday to nab it.

30x30 Day 22: Ace in the Hole

Day 22:

My 30x30 challenge is 2/3 done, and after yesterday's rant about things that are stupid I wanted to wear something I knew I'd feel good about. This look was actually the first one I thought of for this dress. Why didn't I wear it sooner, you ask? Well, because I wasn't sure how this whole thing would play out, and I figured even if I had a number of flops towards the end of this challenge, I knew I'd have at least one outfit I knew I loved. Any other 30x30 girls think the same way? I've styled this dress two other ways so far, and I think I have one more look in mind before this challenge is done.

30x30 Day 21: My Outfit and Things That Are Stupid

Day 21:

My Outfit: I started this challenge wearing this blazer and skirt, and I'm wearing them together again with my sequined tank and boots.  Honestly, I really like how this came together but I really didn't feel like wearing this skirt and blazer again.  I think I might be hitting a wall. I'm ready to get my closet back.

Things that are stupid: Buying clothes during a month when you can't wear them.  So stupid.  I "happened" to find two great skirts I couldn't pass up at Target as I was shopping for "detergent."  I also sold some clothes and Plato's closet and "happened" to find a great plaid and a gingham button down.  Then I was donating at Goodwill and "happened" to find a two great dresses.  Crazy how this all just "happened." I really want to wear them all.  Nine. More. Days.

I was also nominated for the Leibster Award again by Tiffany at Pink Faith Today, go check put here cute blog :)

30x30 Day 20: Neon Ballet Dancer?

Day 20:

So I'm really liking this combo, although the blouse might be a little "blousier" than I'd like. For whatever reason, though, I feel like I need to get in first position, them do a tendu and a pirouette. I was in ballet, tap, jazz, etc, along with dance squad throughout most of my school days, and this outfit takes me back there. Those were the days...... I wonder how my students would feel if I tried out my old moves while teaching today? Shall I find out?

I've also been nominated for the Versatile Blogger Award by Lauren at Lauren's Beauty Department
She has not one, but two cute blogs, go stop by and say hi.

This award asks me to share seven random facts about myself, here goes:

1.  I'm addicted to coffee. I drink nearly a pot a day, but I only like Folgers.
2. I gave up pedicures and highlighting my hair to save money, but secretly wish I still did both.
3. I actually like watching Sesame Street with the Grantster. It's actually pretty funny.
4. I hate cooking. I hate everything about it. Every day at about 4:00 I think, "crap, what am I going to make for dinner tonight?"
5.  I love scrap booking but haven't done much of it since I started blogging. I used to do pages and pages each month, now I maybe do two a month. Good thing Grant's a boy, I don't think he'll probably care that the amount of pictures I've taken of him has decreased.
6. My husband and I are big savers and although there are times I really wish I could just go and buy a bunch of stuff at full price, I always feel better about purchases when I get them on sale.
7. I so wish I knew my blogger friends in real life.

30x30 Day 19: Copy Cat

Day 19:

I'd like to say that today's look was all my doing, but that would be a lie. It was first worn my one of my favorite bloggers Tara of Mix and Match fashion here. She was doing a great year in review post, and what did a spot? Pretty much this outfit. It never would have occurred to me to put this more casual sweater with a dressy skirt, but I'll tell you what, this outfit is one of my favorites to date! If you haven't checked out Mix and Match Fashion, go there. Now. You will love her!

30x30 Day 18: Kind of Boring....

Day 18:

I've got to be honest, I like this outfit in theory, but I think it's kind of boring on me in real life.  I am wearing it with leopard shoes, but they didn't quite make the picture (silly tripod). I had a hard time accessorizing this and although I've seen similar looks on other bloggers I love, I'm not crazy about it on me.  I think this is probably why most people (other than those of us crazy bold enough to do a 30x30) don't post pictures everyday.  Some outfits are ok, but just not exciting enough to blog. I thought about putting my navy blazer on top, but I've worn that thing like every-other day.  I'm probably going to cheat ant put a cardigan on top before walking out the door.  Maybe it'll salvage the look.....

30x30 Day 17: Weekend Style

Day 17:

I'm officially the worst movie picker ever. Last night we rented Killer Joe with Mathew McConaughey. It had Mathew McConaughy, it had to be good, right????? Don't do it! It is seriously two hours of my life I'll never get back. What were you thinking Mathew McConaughy?????

Now to my outfit:  I've worn this shirt and necklace together before, but always in a more dressy look, I really like it paired with jeans to make it a more comfortable, go-to outfit. Still dressier than my normal weekend attire, though.  I'm also going to take Lynette's advise and change into sweats and a t-shirt before going to get weekly groceries.  As she pointed out last weekend, according to Kendi, who started this whole 30x30 thing a few years back, "workout clothes don't count in your 30 items," and going to Walmart on a Saturday morning is definitely a workout.  : )

30x30 Day 16: Polo Anyone?

Day 16:

So it's casual Friday and I'm feeling pretty good. I also seem to be ready for a Polo match. No, I don't play Polo (or even know how) but just give me one of those funny looking hats and I'm ready to ride in this outfit!  I love this sweater with this blazer, add my fun bubble necklace and my boots and it's the perfect Friday look.  Can't believe the challenge is half way done!  I've really liked some looks I've come up with far, and have a number more I'm excited to wear!

I was nominated for another Leibster Award by Jackie at Jackie Jade. Wow, I'm totally feeling the blog love! Go check out her cute blog!

30x30 Day 15: I Swear it Goes With Anything!

Day 15:

I've been feeling a little uncultured lately. Some of my favorite bloggers happen to be Canadian and English and the spell "colour" fancily, say things like "jumper" for shirt and dress, and say my new favorite word "whilst," instead of saying while. I tell you, I need a little more culture in my life. Maybe I just to put on a nice bright coloured jumper whilst I think about how I can become a little more worldly...

Now to my outfit: Halfway through the challenge! Today I'm wearing my favorite cardigan again as a more dressy look. I swear it's not this blinding white in person, it must be the reflection from the snow. I'm even sporting double lace, crazy I know! I thought it'd be fun to wear patterned tights and have the lace top on as well. I'm really like this outfit, and I am beginning to think I can wear this cardi with anything!

30x30 Day 14: I Suppose I Should Wear Pants...

Day 14:

Did anybody watch The Carrie Diaries" on Monday? It's th prequel to Sex in the City, and I'm pretty sure I like the 15 year old Carrie as much as the grown up one. And the clothes, I pretty sure the story takes place in like 1984, and it really isn't much of a stretch from what we're wearing today. I'm sure we're all making our 1984 selves very proud. :)

Onto my outfit: A year ago I wore dress pants most days, and anymore I wear them more like twice a month and to school on days when I post an outfit from the weekend.  Funny how my fashion focus can change so dramatically. I like all the pieces I'm wearing today, and if I have to wear pants, these fit like a glove, but I'd seriously take a skirt most days over any type of pant.

I was also nominated again for the Leibster Award by Fashion Beauty Quest, so sweet! Go check it out, this girl has style!

30x30 Day 13: Surprisingly Cute!

Day 13:

Today's outfit is one I wouldn't have thought of in a million years, if I weren't for this challenge. Somehow, the stars aligned and I really like this outfit with these pieces together. Pattern mixing is one of my favorite trends now, and I thought the lace and print skirt we a really nice complimentary combo. That's what this challenge has done, it's pushed me to think outside the box, but in my own closet.  I'm almost at the halfway mark! Whoop! Whoop!

30x30 Day 12: Shine Bright Like a Diamond

Day 12

I'm not gonna lie, I felt pretty ingenious when I put this tank over this dress. It worked with yesterday's look, so why not today's? It was a "Why haven't I thought of this before moment?" My sister's response: "I'm not sure about that?  Is that a shirt over a dress?"  We'll see what my sweet 7th graders have to say at school today.  Either they will say nothing, which means it's fine with them, or they'll sound a lot like my sister. : )

30x30 Day 11: "Dressy" Restyle

Day 11:

Why no, I didn't add in another skirt to my 30x30, I'm no cheater (except for the dress last Wednesday, that is. Ok, I'm a cheater).  I decided to try and see if I could wear my snakeskin top over my purple jersey dress.  This outfit is super comfortable, and I think the dress as a skirt is working perfectly here.  It felt pretty plain, so I added a metallic silver belt and the bracelets that I probably should just surgically attach to my wrist, because I can't seem to take them off.  I also added a silver knot necklace from Express which was a total splurge for me with birthday money a few years ago.  Is it just me, or is it much easier to buy something nice when it's someone else's money a gift card? I will hem and haw over spending $20 on a shirt when it's out of my budget, but when it's not, the sky's the limit!

30x30 Day 10: Stripes, Lace, and a Bubble Necklace

Day 10:

The weekend is here! Wahoooo!!! We usually take it easy and don't do a whole lot, therefore I'm usually wearing a long sleeve t-shirt with jeans and my tennis shoes.  Well, 30x30, you have changed my weekend look! Watch out moms of Walmart, because I'm shopping for milk and eggs in a bubble necklace and heels!

30x30 Day 9: Double Polka Dots

Day 9:

I'm off to an iPad seminar today instead of teaching today. I got my iPad through a scholars program though school last year and love it's integration into my classroom teaching. There are so many cool things you can do with this fun gadget. Anyway, I'm off to learn some more cool stuff today.

This outfit is pretty similar to  this look, but I love the addition of my polka dot chambray. What's better than double polka dots? Nothing. That's what.

30x30 Day 8: Jewel Tones

Day 8

As I'm writing this I'm watching How I Met Your Mother for the first time ever. Why didn't anymore tell me it was so funny! I suddenly feel robbed of like ten years of good laughs. Geez.

Now to my outfit: Patterned tights, what a fun trend.  I love it with this and I really like the jewel tones of the skirt and cardigan together too, add in the bling of the necklace and I'm ready to sculpt some 7th grade minds.  Side note: My kids tell me that I dress "fancy."  I think this is funny, and I fully take it as a compliment. : )

30x30 Day7 : Crazy About It and Oh, the Irony!

Day 7:
Sooooooooo I was talking to my sister about the word verifications that a lot of blogs have, and how hard they are for me to read. Also, I was looking at one lovely blog that actually made me to math to prove I wasn't a robot. I failed three times, then gave up commenting.
Next, my sister told me I also had word verification. Whoops!!! I swore I had it turned off! Oh, the irony. So, thank you  to all of you who have taken the time to try to tell the difference between a "3" and an "8" and a "m" and an "n," all for the sake of leaving me a nice comment. I now have turned my word verification off. You're welcome.

In more exciting news, today I'm guest posting at All Things Alisa. I've been given the challenge of creating at look for under $50, and you all know I'm up for that! It's also kind of a cheat day in the 30x30 challenge. This dress isn't part of my 30 {cringe} but I had this post planned ahead of time, so please forgive me! Come check out her cute blog and join the link up party too!

30x30 Day 6:My Favorite Blazer and Near Death By Chocolate

Day 6:

As I was preparing to write this post I thought I'd have a little treat left over from the holidays, a chocolate covered bing cherry.  I love them and they are the perfect size for just having one and being content.  Well, I must have really wanted it because instead of just a simple bite, I must have inhaled it and nearly coughed and choked to death.  Seriously not cool. I'm considering it a sign and have decided not to eat chocolate anymore (for today).

Now to the outfit, I've decided that this navy blazer is pretty much my favorite thing right now. $.99 at the thrift store? Really? It's vintage style is perfectly fit for me and I have about a dozen possible looks ready to go with this blazer. I love this dress too, but totally thought of it as being only for summer. I conclude I was wrong, I love this combo together!

I was nominated for the Leibster award again by Fanny at Pinstriped Penguin and Ada at Elegance Personified, take a minute and go check out their blogs!

Hey, one more thing. I always try to stop by your blog when you leave me a comment here. I'm going to start replying to your comments on here as well. I wish blogger functioned more like Facebook with notifications, wouldn't that be nice! But until then I thought I'd give all you lovely readers a heads up. :)

30x30 Day 5: Comfy Style

Day 5:

I love this dress and cardigan.  Both are two of my favorite thrift store finds.  The dress is jersey, so I pretty much feel like I'm wearing pajamas all day, nothing wrong with that right? Also, I with I knew what tights to wear with this, because I'm not gonna lie, bare legs in January is crazy brave.

On another note, I've had a number of people lately comment on "how lovely my blog is and wouldn't it be great if we followed each other." This isn't the funny part, I'm sure most of you get comments like this too daily.  Here's the funny part, me and "said" blogger are already following each other. Yep, you read that right. Now, I am sorry, but how can you not remember when you've been to someone's blog and followed them, and how do you have the free time to go from blog to blog to try to get followers? I'm sorry, it had to be said. In blogging a few months I've learned it's not about followers for sake of the numbers, it's about building fun little blogging friendships and getting a glimpse of these sweet and fun people's lives. Whew, glad I got that out! Now, go enjoy a great Sunday!

30x30 Day 4: Polka Dots and Boots

Day 4:

This blouse has been sitting in my closet pretty much unworn since I bought it on a whim at Express a few years ago.  I added it to my 30 choices to force myself to wear it.  I like this look as a nice weekend look, it's pretty comfortable and will be easy for running errands, like to buy the perfect plaid shirt I won't be able to wear until February.  I've seen so many cute ones lately it's killing me!  I also need want a striped skirt so badly!

I'm crazy about this combo and soooo suprised I never thought of it before.  Thank you 30x30 for forcing me to think about such a look! It's not like it's earth shatteringly different, it just never occured to me to put this together.  I'm looking forward to what other new looks I come up with. : )

On another note, thanks so much to all of you who have supported me with your positive comments, it totally makes my day! This blog is such a fun outlet and I really look forward to being a part of a positive blogging world daily!

Day 2:

I'm loving this casual combo. If it wasn't for the 30x30, I'd probably wear my new boots every day, and I swear I can put this cardigan with most anything and I love it. I'm also happy to say I have a little bit of an arm party going on, yes! I'm pretty sure you'll see this bracelets on my pretty much every day from now on.  Thanks goodness I didn't count accessories in my 30 or else I'd be in big trouble!

Also, I was nominated for the Liebster Award again by Janine at Bake, Glue and Trend.  Make sure to check out her cute blog!
