My New Favorite Outfit: An Old Favorite

An Old Favorite

So, I can't believe I haven't worn this outfit on the blog yet.  I've probably worn it fifty times and it's one of my favorite go-to looks in the summer.  I think sometimes I'm trying to get so creative with my clothes that I forget to wear outfits on here that I already know "work." Are any other bloggers like this, or is it just me?

I also have finally gotten to the point where I can wear something I love without feeling the need to "blog" it.  I know, that's weird that it's taken me so long right?  I really want this blog to be a fun creative outlet for me and not something that keeps me from wearing what I want, when I want.

You who follow me know I take my pictures for the week all at one time, then set up my posts for the following week.  For the longest time I felt like I had to wear "Monday's outfit" on Monday in real life.  I have quite a few friends and co-workers who read my blog and I didn't want to feel like a fraud if they saw me.  Here was the problem though, sometimes I didn't feel like wearing "Monday's outfit" on Monday, I wanted to wear "Thursday's outfit" instead.  In the last few months I've let go of that and sometimes I wear the outfit on the day I post and sometimes I don't.  And that's ok.

I also decided to enter Chippmuck.com's Expert Shopper Contest again with this outfit. I came in 7th last time and the top five won. Help me make the top five this time by loving my look here. I seriously appreciate it ladies!

Also, I've decided to start accepting sponsors! If you're interested in growing your blog, take a look at my stats and options for sponsorship here. Ads starting at $5!

  1. Yes! I think you forget about your 'go to' outfits because you are used to them and looking for 'new' ways to wear your clothes. I love your shirt, though! Glad you posted this outfit :)

  4. Very cute outfit, I really like the stripes and your wedges. I started out being pretty strict about what and when I'd post outfits, but I've let that go a little bit to keep blogging a fun hobby and not an annoying job. And I often forget to share a favorite outfit, especially if it's one that I wore regularly before I started blogging.

Once I quit dressing for the blog and remembered to dress for myself, it made blogging so much more fun!

  7. What a cute striped top! I also take my photos all on one day usually so I'm not always wearing the outfit you see on my blog that day.

  10. I love love love this top! I had more striped tees than I know what to do with, but I've really been wanting to find a dressier black/white striped top. So pretty!

I didn't realize you pre-photograph your outfits! I just take pictures of what I'm wearing every most days and then schedule posts as I have time, so each post is usually an outfit from 1-7 days before (sometimes more). I don't think it matters as long as we really wear (at some point)the outfits we say we are wearing.

  21. Hey I think as long as they're outfits you wear, you're not a fraud at all if you wear a different outfit on a given day! Sometimes I take my outfit photos and then sit on my lazy bum for weeks before posting them! And sometimes I post them a day or two later. No worries! And I love this outfit!

  29. I've done that too Ginny! Sometimes I forget to wear a tried, true, and loved outfit;)! And I completely understand about wearing a different outfit from the one you posted that day, but I think most people know that you take those pictures over the weekend or weeks in advance so don't worry about it too much:)!!

  30. Ginny, you look so cute! I love your striped top with those red shorts. Very cute look. I don't blame you for photographing all in one day. I'm more of a beauty blogger but whenever I do fashion shots it's hard doing them on the "day of". The weather could turn ugly and really who cares. We just love seeing outfits as readers. No one can be that perfect. I love that you have a schedule that works for you. I just started reading your blog but it's a breath of fresh air because you're so down to earth. Good for you!

  33. That an interesting strategy you have for taking outfit pictures. I never plan outfits ahead of time....and I really, really hate changing my clothes, so I just grab people to photograph whatever I'm wearing for some event or outing or another. And that explains why there's no consistency in the background location of outfit shots. I've done pictures in the grocery store, no lie. :P
That really looks like a comfy summery outfit!
