Season Switch: Keep the Color, Change the Style

Today I'm going to share with you my second tip for making the "Season Switch" with your wardrobe
The outfit below on the left was probably my favorite of the summer, but I won't be able to wear it much longer as it begins to cool off.  Many of you probably have the a similar issue.  That's where today's tip comes in.  Keep the color, but change the style.  I have a pair of red jeans I knew would look great with this top and I mentioned on Monday that adding a jean jacket is the perfect addition to most casual outfits.  I'd been playing around with this outfit in my head, then Rita wore something similar and I was sold!  My favorite summer look, now can become a fall look I'll love too!

Have you entered my giveaways for a $25 gift card to Target or Gap/Old Navy/Banana Republic here yet?

  5. Love this Ginny. I totally agree about just changing the item and keeping the colour. Unfortunately we have to change everything because the rain has started. It's my Hunter boots today :( I really hope we get some warm Fall weather.

  6. This is one of the biggest ways I transition between seasons. If there is a particular outfit I love, I'll find similar pieces in color or pattern that works for the next season. I love the red pants with your leopard shoes!

  8. Grant is too cute in his costume!

I do the same thing with my clothes...I have cobalt shorts, jeans, and a skirt, haha! I definitely wear the items interchangeably.

  9. OK cutest spiderman ever! I used to have a friend make my daughter's halloween costume in PJ material so she could wear it all year! It worked perfectly for several years! I love red pants with a striped top. Thanks for the great idea! Susan

  11. Great tip! I definitely use this method to transition from seasons, so I like having similar tops in a t-shirt version and a sweater version, or similar colored bottoms in a skirt and jeans.

Grant is adorable in his costume! So fun!

  12. I love fall transition clothes (I have a jean jacket from around 2004 also that I still wear a lot)...totally my favorite time of year...hard to think about fall, though, when it is near 100 degrees in Nebraska this week! :)

  24. This is so cute - love all the elements going on: stripes, leopard, red, denim...it's great! I guess I've never really consciously thought about changing the style but keeping the color from a summer look to a fall look. What a great idea! Now I'll need to think more intentionally about doing this now that it's cooling off a little bit!
