Building a Wardrobe: Spring Summer Dresses

Today is the third edition of my Building a Wardrobe Series: Spring and Summer addition. On the first day I discussed layering essentials and yesterday I discussed pants and shorts .Today I'll be sharing with you some dresses that I think will be perfect to add to your wardrobe this Spring. Here were my thought's on Fall and Winter essentials, some of which will cross over.

For Spring and Summer:
  • First, I recommend getting a cotton, knit, or jersey dress in a great, bright color.  This can be a great go to piece for casual get togethers or BBQ's on the weekend.
  • Second, a recommend getting a great lace or eyelet dress.  The texture makes it interesting, but also will allow you to dress it up or down with shoes and accessories.
  • Third, I recommend getting a dress with a great print or stripe.  Dresses like this will really stand out as being special and you'll always feel great wearing them!
  • Lastly, I recommend getting a more structured dress in a bright color you love that will be perfect for work or church.

Today I'm wearing an essential dress in a bold print.  I picked up while in Kansas City at The Garment District.  It was originally $72 and I got it on sale for $20!  I don't have anything else like it, so I think it'll definitely be a fun addition this Spring. Also the  Kim is back in stock at Edith Marie, I seriously love this necklace!

  1. Another great post, Ginny. As an ultimate Dress Lover and a Dresses Girl, I totally agree. I would even add some more like a Little White Dress, a Shirt-Dress and a Maxi. Also, for an over-all, seasonless Dresses a woman must have a LBD as well as a Red Dress.

Anyway you look great. Loving your dress and that you styled it with the Denim Jacket. And that Necklace - swoon! I styled my Denim Jacket over an Outfit today that I think I can see you wearing - check it out.

Hope Grant is well. Enjoy the weekend, Ada. =)

  4. I'll take one of each please! Dresses are my statement item. I always wear them for work and, if I can get away with it, for play too.
