About a week ago we had a clothing swap at church. I've participated in a few of these before, so I was super excited. Here's how it works, you drop off your clothes at a designated time before the swap, all the of clothes are then organized by size/style, then there's a designated shopping day to come and shop for free. Genius, right? For this particular event we could bring up to 20 items and take up to 10 items, with the rest being donated to the women's shelter in town.
I ended up taking a bunch of pants and a couple of skirts that I'd been holding onto, that I just needed to let go. None of them fit right, so it was ridiculous for me to hold onto them just because they were good brands. It's crazy how easily I could find about 20 things in my closet to get rid of (don't tell my husband I said that). I happily went shopping on the day of the event and found a few great items, one of which is the great Gap dress I'm wearing today. I love the style and the length is perfect! I also found a basic white button down that fit nicely (I really needed one, my old one is about 10 years old and has needed to be retired for quite some time), a leopard print scarf (score), a green puffer vest, and a cute floral dress (yes, please). I'm really excited to wear all these pieces and I highly recommend planning or taking part in a clothing swap, if given the chance.

ReplyDeleteI've done clothing swaps with friends before, it is always so fun! That dress looks great on you, and will go well with so many things.
ReplyDeleteClothing swaps are really fun! My friends and I do a seasonal swap for everything from women's clothes to baby clothes and gear to random household items. It's as much a social event as it is a great way to clean out your own home and closets!
ReplyDeleteFabulous dress! I love the idea of clothing swaps and I've participated in a few, but I've been disappointed. Obviously, from a charity perspective it was good but I haven't walked away with anything great. The last one I was in I brought in about 25 items and left with a pair of black pants. I think I just need to find the right one.
ReplyDeleteI've never done a clothing swap before but it sounds so fun! That dress looks really cute on you!

That's a really good idea, having a clothes swap as you get to try new items without paying, and you know that your clothes will go to a good home where they will be worn by either the people at the shelter or not. Love the dress that you got, really suits you!

Oh my gosh, that dress is awesome! So classic! I'm a navy-fiend, too, so I love the color :) It looks great with the turquoise necklace. I've never taken part in a clothing swap before, but would LOVE to someday! I'm always so jealous of people who regularly hold or participate in them, because I've never seen one in real life, ha! Maybe I need to plan one...
