Pinspiration to Reality: Translating Couture

Today I'm going to share with you my final tip for pinspiration success. It's all about translating couture into an everyday look.  I don't know about you, but it's hard for me to follow blogs or pin looks that seem so out of the realm of something I could ever wear; they don't seem to translate to my life style.  Take for example Blair.  The style.  Oh my, the style.  Before a trend has even make it on my radar Blair has been wearing it, and wearing it well for like a year.  As beautiful as every look is, it's hard for me to relate to her or her style.  Take my inspiration today, this one look of Blair's is pretty much the cost of my clothing budget for THE ENTIRE YEAR.

This is where my tip come in: look at the idea of the outfit, not the outfit as a whole.  Take away the Chanel Broach and trade in these $350 JCrew pants for a more affordable option, and you've got a a great professional look that easily works for every-day wear.

  1. This is why I love your blog. You always look like a million bucks even though you didn't spend nearly that much. I can't really relate to blogs where they spend tons of money on stuff. This outfit is gorgeous!

  2. I totally agree. I too often find it hard to relate to the style of people who can spend WAY more than I can. But breaking it down and just taking note of the basic idea and pieces can help make it more manageable. Your printed pants here are really fun!

  3. You've hit the nail on the head for me! I follow blogs with style I can see myself wearing in my everyday life. I like ones that push me a little out of my comfort zone, but not over my budget. I love this outfit with your printed pants and gold heels! You look great!

  7. I agree that any outfit can be recreated with more affordable pieces! While I think Blair always looks gorgeous, I relate more to bloggers that aren't in head to toe designer pieces.

  10. Another fabulous interpretation, Ginny! I don't generally read the blogs that are so high fashion, but it's a good reminder that you can find inspiration from pretty things and make it your own!

  12. I love what you have done. While I wish sometimes that I had the $ to buy head to toe designer outfits, I really cannot relate to this and love blogs like yours that are much more reality based.
You look great in this outfit.

  16. I agree with you - some of the bloggers who shop at really expensive places I just can't relate to...but if I look at each piece individually, I can often recreate a similar look with my Target/Old Navy clothes! :) Those pants are great, and I loooove your navy blazer, too!
