How to Save Money at Target

It's no secret that I'm crazy about Target. I often times have people comment on the deals I find there, so I thought I'd create a post sharing some tips with you all.
First off, you need to know Target's markdown schedule. If you're looking to get something particular, plan to stop by on the day of markdowns for that department.
Monday – Electronics, Accessories, Kids Clothing, Books, Baby and Stationery
Tuesday — Domestics, Women’s Clothing, Pets and Market (food items)
Wednesday — Men’s Clothing, Health and Beauty, Diapers, Lawn & Garden items and Furniture
Thursday — Housewares, Lingerie, Shoes, Toys, Sporting Goods, Decor & Luggage
Friday — Auto, Cosmetics, Hardware, & Jewelry
Women's clothes are marked down on Tuesdays. This sweater is one thing I scored on a Tuesday after school at half price and I've worn it like crazy!

I scored this Merona purse for $12 while I was there picking out a birthday present for a kids' party with Grant. Accessories are marked down on Fridays. FYI, it was still full price on line at the time.

My next tip is to utilize the Cartwheel App. The cool thing is you can scan every item in your cart to see if there's an additional discount. These shoes had been marked down to $7.48 which is awesome, but at the same time Cartwheel had a coupon for an extra 20% off all clearance. I got these for $5!

I also recommend signing up for Target to text you coupons, as well as checking out the coupons Target has available on line. They allow you to double dip coupons and combine them too! I was able to score my much loved fur vest for an 20% off, although it was new to scores because of mobile coupons.

Don't forget about their website.  The prices aren't the same in both places.  Sometimes it's better in store and sometimes it's better online.  If the price is better online you can have picked up in the store (when available) and get the better price without having to pay shipping.

I have found a lot of great deals online line, such as these these ankle pants. They were running a buy one get one half off sale, so I scored these and a great pair of olive ones for $9.

I also scored these leather riding boots for $30 (they are now only $24!) online. There are a lot of hidden gems on their website!

Lastly, I like to stroll through the end caps at the back of departments to look for additional clearance items I might need. Before paying full price, I always see what the clearance options are and then double check for additional discounts using the Cartwheel App and mobile coupons too.

Now, I understand it can be easy to go to Target and "Buy all the Things!" I've bought my fair share of things off the clearance rack I've only worn a few times.  I think it's important to shop with a purpose. I only go to Target maybe twice a month, and always with a need in mind, such as getting a replacement for a worn out piece or checking to see if something on my wish list has been marked down. It can get easy to sucked into the amazingness that is Target. Use these tips to help you buy the things you need, so you don't end up like this girl.

  2. Great post! My problem is that I don't really plan ahead for shopping at Target. I only remember to check the cartwheel app if I'm already there and I only think to look for sales if I'm there. That being said, it's been a while since I've found a good deal on something I truly love there!

  14. This is a great post. I really thought I knew all of the Target shopping tips (I got those same leopard flats for $5!), but I learned some new ones like the markdown schedule and having Target text me coupons. Thank you so much!

  15. I'm new to your blog, but I bookmarked it and will be reading every day from now on!!
I LOVE the great plaid scarf (next to last picture) AND the FAB sweater (first picture). I'll have to remember to check out the fashions at Target next time I'm there. My problem is that I have a large bust and most Ladies' fashion in stores like Target don't fit me too well. I LOVE their accessories, though, and would love to find that sweater!
