Skirts and Booties?

I feel like I haven't updated you all on my life lately with my recent series, so here's some random updates for you:
  1. I'm pretty sure I've eaten my weight in candy since Halloween. It's ridiculous, people.
  2. I've determined I'm the worst coffee maker of all time, I swear I get a mouthful of coffee grounds on a daily basis.  It can't be rocket science, why do I have such a hard time with that darn filter?!?
  3. Fall TV!  Can I just tell you how excited that I am that Ted's finally going to get to How He Met Your Mother.  Love that show!
  4. When you get to leave work at 3:40 but end up having to stay until 5:00 to work with kids who think homework is optional it gets old pretty fast. As in, holy smokes this is going to be a long year!
  5. I'm still on the hunt for new brown riding boots, anyone see any real leather ones they love that are under $150? I tried these one's on, but they bunched at the ankle.  I really want these, but I'm pretty sure my husband is going to tell me to keep dreaming....
  6. I have a bunch of pinned outfits I'm chomping at the bit to try next week, stay tuned!
Now to my outfit: Recently my blogging friend Inge asked what I thought about booties with skirts, I honestly wasn't sure, because it hadn't tried it. I decided to give it a try today and love the result. I feel like the booties give the outfit a more casual edge then a traditional heel does. I think the casualness of the cardigan helps make the combo work too, and I'm not going to lie, this might give me a slight case of Buy All The Booties!

Also, have you entered my sponsor's giveaway for an Old Navy gift card yet?

  4. Super cute!! I need to get a pair of booties that color. I have black ones and I just end up looking cut off in them with a skirt. I think it's because I'm so pale :-)

  5. I've been wanting to try the booties + skirt look for fall, too. But I think the booties I have are too wide at my ankle (or just hit at the wrong spot?) for this to look right on me. Hmm...I guess the solution is shopping for new booties? I guess that's not SO bad. :)

  6. You look gorgeous! I'm jealous that you can eat so much candy and not gain weight! I had to put myself on a diet/exercise program after halloween!

  7. I'm also on the hunt for riding boots that are real leather, won't bunch at the ankle, and are around the price range too! It's proving to be really challenging though...so let me know if you find any!
I LOVE this outfits! It's one of my favorites of yours ever :) Your embellished cardigan is simply adorable, and I love booties with skirts because like you said, it makes them a little more casual and relaxed!

  8. I love all the sparkly and rich looking parts of this outfit. The jewels on your pockets really accent your necklace well and I love the print on your skirt with the lace top. Gorgeous outfit! I keep debating on getting those booties in black. So cute!

  9. I love all the sparkle in this outfit! I got my leather riding boots from Nordstrom last year from their B.P. line. I'm not sure if they still have them, but I think I only paid $89 for them thanks to a sale.

  23. I never thought of wearing booties in anything but a casual outfit, but I really like how this turned out! Sorry to hear about your pesky students. I guess one perk of teaching college students is that I only have to deal with them for a semester!

  27. Ahhhh I LOVE this outfit! I love the subtle pattern mixing of the top & skirt! Subtle but super interesting. And the detail on the pocket of the cardigan makes the whole look so cute. I've been looking for booties like yours! I'm pretty sure that color and design would go with almost any outfit. Looks great, Ginny!

  28. I just love everything about this outfit! The booties are spectacular! I went on a Buy All the Booties binge last year, so much so that the husband put me on a boot ban (it was a sad time.) The texture and pattern mixing in your outfit is so fab plus the pops of bling! Great!
