My New Favorite Outfit: What I Am and What I'm Not.

What I Am and What I'm Not.

I don't know about you, but I can let my weaknesses be things I focus on instead of my strengths. Today I thought I'd lay out some of the weaknesses that are bugging me right now, and probably more for myself a list of things I can do well. Let's start with the weaknesses:
  1. I stink at tweeting.  Seriously.  I think I might just be too old to keep up with the young "hipster" who tweaks with ease about their delicious breakfast muffins....
  2. I am not good at saying no to chocolate, as is I have a serious case of "Eat all the Chocolate."  We rarely keep it in the house because if we did, I would need new pants.
  3. I am not very patient with Grant at bedtime and it kind of makes me feel like a bad mom.  Let's face it, I'm tired at 8:00 and I don't have the patience for shenanigans like, "I want another kiss, drink of water, story, song, etc."  I wish I was better at this.
  4. Sometimes I just want to be a person, not Grant's mom, Brian's wife, Jesse's teacher, but I totally stink at ever taking time for myself.  My one outlet is this little blog, which I totally appreciate.
  5. Once I get an idea on the brain I have to go, go, go until it's done.  This is rarely healthy.  Take a chill pill, Ginny.
So, can any of you relate? Please tell me I'm not alone. : ) Now, to my strengths:

  1. I am good at staying caught up on laundry, I used to wait until the weekends, now I do a load every time a hamper happens to be full.  It's the little successes, people.
  2. I am good at waiting to buy until there's a deal, rarely do I buy anything at full price and I always end up being happier in the end.
  3. I work with some great people and therefore it helps me to become a better teacher each day and my kids are successful because of it.
  4. I (usually) have a pretty good sense of self worth and don't often dwell on things I can't control. For whatever reason I have a good "bounce back" gene.
  5. I'm good at forgiving and getting over situations. I'm usually not one to hold a grudge. To me, no good comes from that.

Whelp, the strengths were more difficult to write! I think no one wants to feel like eyre bragging, but it's important to celebrate our strengths. Your turn, what are you good at????

Now to today's outfit: I'm styling my new black vest again.  I seriously love this thing and decided to pair it with this hounds-tooth sweater I snagged at Forever 21 for a mere $8! I love how it came together and think I might try it like this next time.  So cute, right? What did I do before blogs and Pinterest.....

  3. That houndstooth sweater is SO cute! I have a F21 gift card and I may have to snag that!

I think it can be hard to make time for ourselves but it is so important! Everyone needs some "me" time.

  4. Love this outfit! I don't have kids, but I sometimes think not giving into the "one more.." is really good for the kid in the long run. So many of the kids in my classes are spoiled, disrespectful, unimaginative... I can't help but wonder what some tough love would have done for such kids. Again, this may be completely wrong, so feel free to disregard, and let's just focus on the cute sweater instead :)

  5. I love that sweater, too! And I also get way too focused on things and feel like I HAVE to get them done before moving on. And I don't like holding grudges either. It's a waste of time and energy and I don't like people to have that kind of power over my emotions. :)

  6. I'm the same way with chocolate. I just can't get over it!

  7. I think I can realate to all of your weaknesses, pretty sure they are all mine as well. I have tried to get the tweeting thing and I just can't! I never say no to chocolate and sometimes get frustrated with my son as well. The one thing you got on me, the laundry - I literally have three or four loads sitting here waiting to be done and I so don't want to do it!
On a happy note, I am loving your outfit, great vest!

  9. I love your outfit today. Great sweater. Love it with the necklace. I am also not patient when it comes to bedtime. I'm exhausted by that time. I can't say no to donuts!!!!!!!!! I have a hard time letting go of things. We all have our strengths and our weaknesses. It's all about working on them.

  10. Ooh I love this outfit! I'm totally going to have to copy and wear my houndstooth sweater with my black vest now =) I'm not a mom but I think that I feel similarly about getting frustrated with my special needs students. At the same time I know that I am really good at being patient, I do get frustrated sometimes and feel guilty about it.

  12. LOL - I'm so bad at Twitter. I've been thinking about strengths and weaknesses a lot lately. My conclusion is that most of my personality traits are both, just depending on the situation.

PS - I love this sweater!

  15. First of all, you are great at blogging! Thanks goodness we all have different strengths and weaknesses as the world sure would be boring if we were all perfect! I so love your outfit today. Until this fall, I would have never paired black with brown (the horror) but I love the combination now and wear it often!!

  16. I loved reading this and I think posts like these are necessary every now and then and make us feel more human. I am kind of bad at laundry, I envy you. Though I have gotten better since having a baby. Vivian has taught me a lot of patience. She is not a good sleeper at all and her bedtime is real late (she just went to bed for the day and it's 20 minutes after midnight). I too have a hard time with waiting for her to fall asleep, but it is more that I want her to fall asleep (she needs her sleep, she is so young) then for my own interest.

This Outfit is so Chic. I love the Sweater and Vest and especially those Boots. If we don't talk until then HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU & YOURS AND THANK YOU FOR BEING SUCH AN AWESOME BLOGGER!! <3 Ada.

  18. I think we are two peas in a pod Ginny. I am finished at bedtime, I have no clue or desire to tweet, blogging is my only outlet! You may be able to give me some pointers in the forgiveness department - sometimes I hold grudges and that is not ok. I love this sweater - $8!!! What a steal! Have a blessed Thanksgiving!! Susan
