Why no, I didn't add in another skirt to my 30x30, I'm no cheater (except for the dress last Wednesday, that is. Ok, I'm a cheater). I decided to try and see if I could wear my snakeskin top over my purple jersey dress. This outfit is super comfortable, and I think the dress as a skirt is working perfectly here. It felt pretty plain, so I added a metallic silver belt and the bracelets that I probably should just surgically attach to my wrist, because I can't seem to take them off. I also added a silver knot necklace from Express which was a total splurge for me with birthday money a few years ago. Is it just me, or is it much easier to buy something nice when it's someone else's money a gift card? I will hem and haw over spending $20 on a shirt when it's out of my budget, but when it's not, the sky's the limit!
Blouse: Express $12
Belt: Kohls $1.5
Dress: Ann Taylor Loft $5
Necklace: Express $30
Bracelets: Express $14
Shoes: Nine West $30
What a great idea for an outfit, it looks lovely and really does look like a new skirt!

Thanks, it's one of those outfits you try on not knowing and then go huh, yeah I like it :)
DeleteI too sometimes wear dresses as skirts and plan to do it more often this year. I would love to do more layering looks adding dresses in the mix. That necklace is gorgeous and yes much easier to purchase with gift cards, money cards or coupons.
ReplyDeleteHere is to a Great Sunday, Ginny. =)
Thanks, the comfy factor helps too :)
DeleteThis is a great look! I haven't tried the dress-as-a-skirt concept yet, and I've always wondered if it would work with jersey dresses. And apparently it does! Your layered look really pulls it all together.

Thanks Chelsea, I've seriously been wearing them like crazy!
DeleteThis looks great, and I never would've guessed it's a dress! I really love the placement of that belt too. Paired with your accessories, it really finishes off your outfit!
ReplyDeleteI am the worst when I'm on vacation! For some reason when I go shopping on vacation, I think I'm exempt from my usual shopping rules. My cheap self almost bought a $90 skirt on my last trip, but thankfully I checked myself. :)
Thanks! I've done the same thing on vacation. I'm for sure I've blacked out and walked out with shopping bags full of pricey unnecessary things :)
DeleteVery pretty look

The dress as a skirt is genius! It's such a great color too. I'm really loving this snakeprint top. So many possibilities with that. Express has some great deals sometimes.
ReplyDeleteThanks! The 30x30 is forcing me to think outside the box :)
