30x30 Day 24: Polka Dots and Stripes

Day 24:

Let's see, carry the 1 and yep, not loving this polka dot blouse. Don't get me wrong, this outfit is just fine and I love the other pieces.  I added this top into my 30X30 to force me to wear it, and I just really don't want to.  Unfortunately (for me), I think it's going to be added to my pile to donate.  Maybe some lucky soul will find it at the thrift store and find the perfect way to wear it, as I can't seem to.  Bummer.  Anyone have any clothes like this in their closet, cute but you just can't seem to love wearing it?

Cardigan: Apt 9 $3 (thrifted)
Top: Express $20
Necklace: Very Jane $6
Belt: Limited $10
Jeans: Old Navy $19
Boots: Aerosoles: $46

  1. That top is so cute! I don't see what's wrong with it. I like it!
And I've gotten much better at keeping the tags on clothes unless I'm 100% certain I love them. I used to just buy whatever and if I ended up wearing it then great but if not, I'd just buy something else. Now that I'm on a strict budget (thanks, husband) I typically won't buy something unless I love it and it fits super well, etc. I return a lot!

    1. Also, super random, but I seem to recall you saying you'd like to get your hands on a striped skirt? Old Navy (which is where I got mine) has a similar one back in stock for spring, it looks like! And I think I like it even better than mine:

    2. Thanks, for the comment on the top. I like it in person, but I reallllly don't like it in pictures. I'm pretty good at thinking about purchases, but I did buy this on a whim. I'm on a monthly budget too, which took a while to get adjusted too. Glad we have our hubby's to keep us in line :)
And um, that skirt. Yes. now. It's also an extra 30% off now. I think I'll stop by Old Nay and see if it's in stores if not ill get it on line. Thanks for the head up, so cute!!!

  2. I like it! It's hard to tell in the pictures if your top is blue or black, but I've worn a similar polka dot top under a black blazer and I thought the combo looked fun and pulled together. And I love your necklace!

    1. Thanks, I like it in real life, but not at all in pictures. Maybe I'll give it a few more tries before giving up on it...

    2. I have some outfits that don't photograph well so I know what you mean. But if you like the way it looks in real life, you should definitely keep it =)

  3. I actually like how you have worn it. Have you tried it with a knee length black pencil skirt, high black heels and your navy blazer? You could put tuck the top in and put a skinny belt on the skirt in the same colour as one of the flecks of colour on the top? I think you might be able to find a way to wear it that you like, but if not I suppose someone else will get to find it and give it another life :) I like the casual feel to this outfit :)

    1. I've actually worn it that way and liked it, I just really don't like it in the pictures. I think I'll try it that way again and see if it changes my mind.

    2. Sometimes I think the picture must make things look different as I sometimes love outfits and the pictures look awful and then I am not so bothered about an outfit and the pictures look really good, it's weird isn't it? :)

  5. I like the outfit but i know how you feel. Sometimes no matter what you try you just don't like it. Maybe next time try leaving it untucked with the cardigan and see how you like it.
