My New Favorite Outfit: Polka Dots and Stripes

Polka Dots and Stripes

Blog Everyday in May Challenge, Day 8: A piece of advise I have for others:

If you are unhappy with who you are now, you can change.  The person I am today is very different than the person I was in college, even more so the person I was in high school.  For a very long time I was super concerned about what other's thought of me, as well as having their acceptance.  I ended having a pretty wild lifestyle and am seriously lucky to be alive today.  It's totally by the grace of God that  I am here.  During this whole time of chaos I was pretty unhappy and kept searching for happiness in activities, possessions, and other people.  It wasn't until I realized that God thought I was "good enough" that I felt a weight lifted off my shoulders, and truly was able to get comfortable in my own skin. I'm still far from perfect, but now I know that's ok. : )

Now to my outfit:For whatever reason, I haven't worn my chambray in quite some time but when I pulled out this skirt I really wanted to wear it, and a little subtle pattern mixing came to mind.  Both of these pieces I probably would have passed up a year ago, but I love the outfit possibilities I can create with both. :)

Chambray: Old Navy $20
Skirt: Target $16
Necklace: Very Jane $15
Bracelets: Target ? and Express $14

  10. Love the chambray paired with the bright stripe skirt. Love what you wrote and glad to hear you are at a better place. We all go through caring too much of what other's think but at the end of the day, we need to love ourselves!

  13. I can't thank you enough for your post today Ginny. It made me cry. I"m in such a bad place right now. I don't feel like I belong anywhere and like you I am searching for acceptance in other things. I was never accepted by my mother and that has haunted me my entire life and really hit home when I had my son. This is something that i don't share on my blog as I don't know how, but today with your comment and how awful I feel this morning, I wanted to share it with you. Thank you for this. God believes that I'm perfect the way I am so I need to realize it and stop searching for acceptance in things. It's been a rough couple of years. Anyways i don't want to bog down your blog with my crap. I just wanted to thank you for your kind post today.

    Love your outfit today.

  14. This striped skirt is far too cute! Might need to get it with May's budget! Also, I LOVE this advice and it is so true. I think I still have the same core being, but I have matured a lot and changed a lot in my viewpoints of the world. And thank goodness, I don't think I would like meeting the 21 or 22 year old me!

  22. Hi Ginny! Thanks for sharing your story. I wonder sometimes how I made it through college. It wasn't until I was healed by the unconditional love of Jesus that I accepted myself for who I am. My life changed dramatically for the better too, no going back now.

I love the colors in this skirt and it's perfect with polka dots. Thanks for linking up and for being an inspiration!
